February 1st - It was a happy Sunday for Arsenal who saw both their challengers drop points. Aston Villa were beaten one-nil at home by Brentford. Django Outtara scored the only goal at Villa Park as the visitors recorded a victory despite playing the second half with just ten men following Kevin Schade's red card.
Man City looked like they were cruising to victory at Tottenham. They lead two-nil at half-time thanks for goals from Cherki and Semenyo. However, Tottenham did their North London rivals a big favour by fighting back for a point. Dominic Solanke scored twice to ensure the game finished in a two-all draw and Arsenal go six points clear. There was drama aplenty at Old Trafford as Man United beat Fulham two-nil. United looked to be heading for a straightforward two-nil victory but late goals from Raul Jiminez and Kevin looked like earning a point for the visitors. However, Benjamin Sesko scored an injury time winner for the hosts. A third win on the bounce for Michael Carrick saw United move back into fourth in the table. Sunday's final game saw the points shared as Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace drew one-all at the City Ground - that point leaves Sean Dyche's side six points clear of the bottom three. A score of 25 points sees Niall Carroll top the very early leaderboard for February. He's five clear of Ciaran O'Hart, Javier Suarez and Kieran Killeen who all scored twenty points on Sunday - full details below: |
February 6th to 8th - Arsenal finished Saturday with a nine point lead at the top of the table. Sunderland held firm for most of the first half at the Emirates but goals from Zubamendi and Gyokeres (2) saw the Gunners win three-nil to consolidate their lead over the rest. Aston Villa's faltering challenge saw them drop points again - they were ahead at Bournemouth through Morgan Rogers but Rayan scored in the second half to earn a point for the home side. Man City reduced the gap to just six points again with victory at Anfield on Sunday. Dominik Sbozolai's trademark free-kick opened the scoring with just a quarter of an hour left. City's title aspirations looked in serious doubt but an equaliser from Bernardo Silva followed by Erling Haaland's injury time penalty gave their hopes an almighty shot in the arm. With thirteen games to go, Arsenal's lead is six points with the two sides scheduled to meet at the Etihad on April 18th. It's four wins from four for Michael Carrick at Old Trafford. Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring before Bruno Fernandes sealed the win ten minutes from time. Cristian Romero saw red again for Spurs who are now just six points clear of the bottom three. Everton's upward progression continued - they came from behind to win two-one at Fulham. David Moyes' side are eighth in the table with European qualification a real prospect. At the bottom, Leeds beat Nottingham Forest three-one on Friday night. Dominic Calvert Lewin was among the scorers - his tenth league goal of the season. Leeds are six points clear of the bottom three after that win. West Ham closed the gap on Nottingham Forest to just three points - they won two-nil at Burnley to keep their survival bid on track. Elsewhere, Brentford won again - they got the better of Newcastle in a five goal thriller at St James Park. Dango Ouattara scored the winner in the final five minutes in that one. Cole Palmer scored a hat-trick, including two penalties, as Chelsea won three-one at Wolves to remain fourth. Ismaila Sarr scored the winner in the M23 derby as Crystal Palace won one-nil at Brighton. The February leaderboard is beginning to take shape. Kieran Killeen leads the way on 71 points. He's followed closely by Chris Keohan, Craig Calvert and Derek McDonald all on 69. Helen Fadian and Peter Lavelle are next best on 68 points - full details below: |

February 10th to 12th - When Man City trailed very late on at Anfield on Sunday, the gap to Arsenal was nine points. Fast forward a few days later and there's just four points between the top two. Erling Haaland was among the scorers as Man City recorded a comfortable three-nil win at home to Fulham. Arsenal played a day later but were unable to beat Brentford - Keane Lewis-Potter scored a second half equaliser for the Bees after Noni Madueke's first league goal of the season had opened the scoring for Mikel Arteta's side. It was a good night for Liverpool in the battle for the Champions League places. Virgil van Dijk headed a second half winner at the Stadium of Light as Sunderland lost at home for the first time this season. Both Man United and Chelsea drew. United's winning run came to an end following a one-all draw at West Ham. They needed an injury time equaliser from Benjamin Sesko to earn a point, cancelling out a Tomas Soucek opener. Chelsea looked to be heading to a routine win at home to Leeds but two goals in the final quarter earned Daniel Farke's side a valuable point in their survival bid. Two managers headed for the job centre after the midweek games. Thomas Frank received his cards after Spurs lost two-one at home to Newcastle. He leaves with Spurs just five points clear of the bottom three with a home game against Arsenal next on the list. Nottingham Forest are on the lookout for their fourth manager of the season after Sean Dyche departed the City Ground after a nil-all draw at home to bottom side Wolves. Whoever takes over the hot seat will have a three point cushion from the relegation zone starting off... Elsewhere, Everton's poor record in their new stadium continued. They surrendered a lead in a two-one defeat at home to Bournemouth. Aston Villa kept in touch with the top two - Jack Hinshelwood scored a late own goal as Brighton slipped to defeat at Villa Park. Burnley's survival prospects are slim but they showed plenty of fight in a three-two win at Crystal Palace - they came from two down to win, scoring three goals in the five minutes before half-time to complete a great comeback. Chris Keohan is the man to catch at the top of the overall leaderboard and he also leads the way in February. A solid midweek return saw him open up a seven point lead over Roisin Joyce who climbed to second place. Paul Moore is now in third place followed by the rapidly improving Darren O'Gorman and Craig Whelan who complete the top five so far: |

February 18th to 22nd - A mixed week saw Arsenal end the weekend five points clear at the top of the table having played a game more than rivals Man City. Mikel Arteta's side squandered a two goal lead at Wolves on Wednesday night with the hosts scoring an injury time equaliser. Man City cranked up the pressure beating Newcastle on Saturday night. The gap was just two points after Nico O'Reilly scored both goals in a two-one win. Arsenal responded with an excellent four-one win at Tottenham on Sunday to go five clear. Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres scored a brace each - of Eze's six league goals this season, five have come against Spurs. The home side are just four points clear of the bottom three. The battle for a Champions League place swung in Liverpool's favour. Chelsea dropped points at home to Burnley - Zian Flemming scored a late equaliser for Scott Parker's side. Liverpool huffed and puffed at the City Ground with Alexis McAllister scoring a 97th minute winner, shortly after he had a goal chalked off by VAR. With Man United to visit Everton on Monday night, all three sides are level on points in the battle for fourth place. At the bottom, Wolves lost to a last minute winner for Crystal Palace. West Ham were held nil-all at home by Bournemouth but closed the gap to two points on Nottingham Forest. Leeds picked up an excellent point on the road - they drew one-all at Aston Villa. Unai Emery's side needed a late equaliser from Tammy Abraham to avoid defeat. They're ten points behind the leaders now. Elsewhere, James Milner celebrated breaking the Premier League appearances record as his Brighton side won two-nil at Brentford. Sunderland suffered just their second home defeat of the season - Raul Jiminez scored twice as Fulham won three-one at the Stadium of Light. With seven games to go in the monthly competition, Roisin Joyce has a three point lead over previous leader Chris Keohan. Craig Whelan is well in contention - he's a further three points back. Carl Toner has climbed to fourth with Frank McSweeney and Kevin Nolan sharing fifth place - full details below: |

February 27th and 28th - With Arsenal not playing until Sunday, Man City closed the gap at the top to just two points. City won a hard fought game at Elland Road, beating Leeds United by a goal to nil. Antoine Semenyo scored the only goal on the stroke of half time to keep the pressure on the leaders. Aston Villa's poor recent run continued - the third place side lost two-nil at Wolves on Friday night. Joao Gomes and Rodrigo Gomes scored the goals as the bottom side recorded just their second league win of the season. It won't be enough to save them from relegation but they've been much improved under Rob Edwards since his return to Molineaux. Liverpool returned to the Champions League places with a comprehensive five-two win over West Ham. The Reds were three up at half-time through Ekitike, Van Dijk and MacAllister. The Hammers rallied in the second half scoring twice but a Gakpo goal and an own goal from Disasi settled the Anfield nerves. Everton kept their European ambitions firmly on track with a three-two win at Newcastle. Goals from Branthwaite, Beto and Barry gave David Moyes' side another three points as they finished Saturday in eighth position. Elsewhere, the points were shared on the South Coast as Bournemouth and Sunderland drew one-all. There was a seven goal thriller at Turf Moor - Burnley looked to have salvaged a point after coming from three down to level against Brentford before Mikel Damsgaard scored an injury time winner for Keith Andrews' side. Chris Keohan regained the top spot he lost last week to win the monthly competition for February. He had just a single point to spare over Carl Toner who finished the month in second place. Roisin Joyce who lead coming into the final week had to settle for third place. Craig Calvert and Robert Foley completed the top five for February: |
